Promoting Environmental Justice
I am committed to protecting the environment, promoting social justice, and safeguarding public health. Environmental issues are intersectional, and we must address them holistically to ensure a sustainable and equitable future for all Virginians.
Environmental Justice: I believe that everyone has the right to a clean and healthy environment, regardless of their race, income, or zip code. As a delegate, I will prioritize environmental justice by advocating for policies that address environmental racism and the disproportionate impacts of pollution and climate change on marginalized communities.
Clean Energy: We need to transition to clean and renewable energy sources to reduce our carbon footprint and protect our health. I will work to promote the use of wind, solar, and geothermal energy, and incentivize their adoption through tax credits and other policies.
Climate Change: Climate change is a global crisis, and we need to act now to prevent catastrophic impacts on our planet and communities. As a delegate, I will support measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase our resiliency to the effects of climate change, such as extreme weather events and sea-level rise.
Sustainable Transportation: Sustainable transportation options, such as biking, walking, and public transit, are crucial to reducing air pollution and traffic congestion. I will advocate for investments in public transportation infrastructure, such as light rail and bus rapid transit, and work to expand bike lanes and pedestrian walkways.
Protecting Virginia's Natural Resources: Our forests, wetlands, and watersheds are integral to Virginia's natural beauty and biodiversity. I will work to conserve and protect these resources and promote sustainable land use practices that prioritize soil health and water quality.
Promoting Sustainable Agriculture: Sustainable agriculture practices, such as regenerative farming, can reduce soil erosion and water pollution while improving food security and supporting local economies. I will support policies that promote sustainable agriculture, such as increased funding for conservation programs and technical assistance for farmers.
I am committed to working towards a sustainable and equitable future for all Virginians. As a delegate, I will prioritize environmental justice, promote clean energy and transportation options, address climate change, protect Virginia's natural resources, and support sustainable agriculture.
